Uncle Tim's eGuitarCenter - Technical Training For Guitar
Lesson one

Hello! This is Lesson 1 from Uncle Tim.
The focus of lesson 1 is to become familiar with the chords of C major.
C major is the first key we start with when we examine chords and keys. These keys are called diatonic keys.
There are twelve major and twelve minor diatonic keys. All diatonic keys have seven notes in them.
The only letters we will use are A, B, C, D, E, F,and G. At times we will add a sharp to these notes.
Adding a sharp means you play the note one fret higher. It changes the note to the next higher tone. You will hear this as we go.
The reason we start with C major is because this key has no sharps or flats. It contains only natural notes. It is the natural starting point when we examine music.
The key of C contains seven notes. The entire key is defined by these seven notes. The notes include C, D, E, F, G, A and B. Notice all seven are listed.
Also notice we started on the note of the key (C), and we proceeded alphabetically. We used each letter (note) once. Each of these notes will serve as the main note for one chord. In all, there are seven chords in the key of C major.
The goal of this lesson is to teach you these chords and show you some uses and ways to practice and get to know them. By the time the lesson is completed , you will have played these chords many times.
Lets start off with explaining how to form these chords. We will use numbers for our fingers. Each note can be exchanged for a number which will tell you what finger to use.
