Today is a big day in the whole scheme of things. The velvet is clearly coming off and the sharp protrusions of antlers and paddles are starting to emerge.
The velvet comes off in shreds as the moose rubs against willows and evergreen trees. Once this process starts, it is mostly complete within a day and often times within a few hours. Then the rack turns blood red before settling in to a blond color.
