The elk were deep into the rut. Hiking was a little difficult because of the risk of running into big bulls that were quite territorial. They were in no mood for a confrontation.

The aspen were all glowing as they hit peak colors. I was struck by the repetition of form as the tree line mimicked the ridge lines. It was a nice frame for the highest point in the park. Longs Peak is 14,255 feet tall and the centerpiece of the park.
