This time we ran the shuttle ourselves. This entails driving all the cars to the take out and then driving back to the put in where the captains have been assembling the boats. Takes about three hours, round trip.
While waiting we endured three hours of freezing rain. When the shuttle crew returned, the rain turned to snow. Then we launched the boats and ran five miles of white water to our first camp. The temperature was 36 degrees. It rained or snowed all day.
That night the mountains and high foothills received fresh snow. The following morning was cold and foggy but sunny. The coffee on the beach was extra good.
