The La Sal Range

The Sun was beginning to go down fast. The scene was unfolding right in front of my eyes. The range had been covered in clouds all day long. Only at sunset did they move on to reveal a fresh coat of snow on the La Sal range.

The range got it's name from the first explorer who could not believe the peaks were covered in snow. They thought it must be salt so they named this range after salt.

Turns out it was snow after all.

The range is about 50 miles behind the ridge line. Notice the curve in the sedimentary rocks.
