Red Creek Rapid

We were all alone. Five miles upstream was the take out for the day float. Four miles downstream is the take out for the extended float. But before we could finish, we had to run Red Creek Rapid.

This is the easy side. The rapid rates a 2 1/2 on a scale from 1 to 5 on this side. The other side rates a full 3. A mistake here could mean several hours getting all your equipment back and your boat right side up.

And there is no one to help you. Just the wind, and the sound of the water as it races over rocks.
