The First Snow

I really had no specific target, I was just driving. My mind raced through all the usual haunts I could visit, when I passed the Flatirons. My eyes practically popped out of my head when I noticed how delicate this first snow was on our glorious landmark. The clouds hung over the formations hiding and hinting at what was covered up.

The snow highlighted every tree on the mountain, delicately outlining their beautiful forms. The small patches of blue sky foreshadowing this might not last very long.

This shot was taken from Chautauqua Park in October of 2006. I never become tired of looking at the different faces of this most dramatic mountain. I call this image “The First Snow.”
