Mount Moran And The Oxbow

I look forward to visiting this spot as often as I can. Mt Moran, named after Thomas Moran of the 1871 Hayden Survey, is a bold bare rock of a mountain rising abruptly from the Snake River plain.

Although still part of the Snake River, Oxbow Bend, as it's name implies is cut off from the main current. This creates a feeling of tranquility and inner peace. Wildlife seems to be drawn like a magnet to this area. In any given day you may expect to see eagles, moose, coyote and otters as well as many other creatures. No visit to the Tetons is complete without visiting Oxbow Bend.
